Situated in Boston, Massachusetts, Fisher College is a private, non-profit institution of higher learning education. It was established in 1903 originally as Winter Hill Business College. The College has become co-educational since 1998. The institution is accredited by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
There is a wide variety of bachelor and associate's degree programs offered at Fisher College. Bachelor Degree programs available include Accounting, Communication and Media Studies, English, Health Care Management, Health Information Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Marketing, Psychology, Public Administration, Sports Management, and more.
Meanwhile, available Associate's Degree programs include Business Administration, Early Childhood Education, Fashion Design, Fashion Merchandising, Health Sciences, Liberal Arts, Medical Assistant, and other areas of study.
In addition, the Division of Accelerated and Professional Studies at Fisher College also offers options for part time, weekend, evening, and online education in 8-week terms. These programs are offered at the main Boston campus, as well as the Brockton, New Bedford, and North Attleborough locations, and online.
For students who wish to experience living and studying in a different country, Fisher College has many opportunities for study abroad, particularly during the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters. Full-time students who meet the minimum GPA requirement, in good standing, and have a passport are eligible for the study abroad experience. Opportunities are offered in countries such as Argentina, Australia, Costa Rica, England, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Scotland, Spain, and more.
Fisher College encourages an interactive collaboration between the student and the academic advisor. Advisors are available to assist with questions or concerns regarding adding and dropping courses, class withdrawals, placement exam results, course selection, changing majors, and other academic-related situations. Students can check their MyFisher account online to see their advisor. Appointments are scheduled during office hours.
Additional learning support is available to Fisher College students through the Academic Center for Enrichment. The Center is staffed with around 20 professional tutors who are available to assist students with enhancing their organizational or study skills, or organizing workshops on note taking, time management, and reading comprehension. All services offered at the Academic Center for Enrichment are free of charge to students.
There are four computer labs and classrooms conveniently located throughout the Fisher College campus, and these labs are available for student use. All computer stations have Internet access, printing capabilities, and hardware and software useful for academic and career environments. Labs are utilized for both formal teaching and individual learning.
Fisher College's four residence halls house can accommodate up to 300 students who wish to reside on campus. The residences are 1900's-inspired brownstone townhouses equipped with contemporary conveniences such as electronic security systems, lounges with refrigerators and microwaves, TV lounges with cable television and DVD players, and other amenities.
The Dining Room at Fisher College is open all week, and a wide selection of food items are included in the menu. The Dining Room offers cooked-to-order breakfast, deli sandwiches, lunch and dinner home-style entrees, grill station, salad bar, pizza, soups, sushi, and convenience store items.
The Fisher College bookstore is the place to go online to order textbooks, e-books and other references. Also, the bookstore allows students to sell their used books.
